Are you a homeowner who has recently decided that a remodeled kitchen is just what you need? If so, there is a good chance that you may want to do that remodeling yourself. If that is the case, there are a number of tools, likely a large number of tools, which you will need. While there is a good chance that you may already have the majority of the tools needed for your next kitchen remodeling project, there is also a chance that you might not. Rest assure though because the majority of the tools needed can be found right at one of your local home improvement stores.

When it comes to determining the tools that you will need, when starting your remodeling, it is important to determine which type of remodeling you will be doing. For instance, if you are installing a new set of kitchen cabinets, you will find that the tools needed may vary a little bit from the tools that would be used to replace your kitchen floor. That is why it is advised that you determine exactly what in your kitchen you would like remodeled, as well as what types of tools will be needed. Despite the fact that you may need different tools for different projects, there are a number of common tools; common tools that you may need no matter what kitchen remodeling project you are working one.

Perhaps, the most important tools to have is a hammer. Hammers are used on a wide variety of different kitchen remodeling projects, particularly ones that require nails. Hammers can also be used to help position a tile or countertop piece into a tight space. Since hammers are used all around the house, sometimes on a daily basis, there is a good chance that you already own a hammer. In fact, there is a good chance that you own more than one!

Aside from a hammer, it is also a good idea to have a collection of screwdrivers on hand. Although there is a good chance that you already own a couple of screwdrivers, you may want a multi-function screwdriver. A multi-function screwdriver is one that easily allows you to change the screwdriver heads, in no time at all. In fact, if you are really looking to save time, you may want to purchase an electric screw gun.

A putty knife is another tool that you may need to use, when remodeling your kitchen. Putty knifes are ideal when replacing a kitchen countertops or when retiling your kitchen floor. They are great for removing unwanted or unneeded caulk or spreading around the glue that is needed to hold your kitchen tiles down. Putty knifes are common tools, but they are not as common as hammers or screwdrivers; therefore, you may need to purchase yourself one.

It may also be a good idea to have box cutters or handsaws on hand. If you are replacing the flooring in your kitchen or if you are installing a new laminate kitchen countertop, there is a good chance that you need to cut materials down to size. In some cases, a box cutter could do, but in other cases, you may need a handsaw. That is why it is best to have them both on hand.

In addition to the above mentioned tools, you may need to have a wrench, a measuring tape, a glue gun, a pair of pliers, and a ladder. Of course, it is also advised that you think along the lines of safety. In addition to the above mentioned tools, it may be a good idea to have a pair of safety goggles, a face mask, work gloves, and even a hard topped construction hat, just in case.

New technologies are being invented all the time. Sometimes there are great technologies out there but they’re just too expensive or impracticable for use in the home. Well a technology that’s been around since the days of Skylab in the 1980′s and used commercially for years, has finally arrived home. Many people feel that this device is destined to be the next microwave oven in home appliances.

Many hospitals have been cleaning operating room linens and other garments without the use of detergents or even hot water, for years. It seems that water that’s been oxygenated with O3 not only does a great job cleaning, but it practically sterilizes garments in the process. Until now, there was no way for the average homeowner to enjoy all the benefits by taking advantage of this technology.

Laundrypure is a device that was invented a few years ago to put this technology to use for you, in your home. The original design was kind of bulky and did have some maintenance requirements but this second generation unit is right on target. Some of the many benefits include:

Save money on detergentSave money on heating water (and this really adds up)Have brighter, fluffier and softer garmentsEliminate the common skin rashes and allergic reactions from all the harsh chemical found in detergentsClothes and linens have a clean fresh air smell instead of some artificial chemical scentHelp protect the environment by eliminating phosphates and other chemicals in your drain waterNo maintenance and will even rid your washer of soap and chemical build-up

As we wash our clothes over and over, a residue builds up in the fibers from all the chemicals in the detergent. Over time, not only do the garment fibers break down and clothes wear out, but the residue causes stiffness and a matted down effect. Some people, especially children, are sensitive to these residues and develop a rash or other reaction. Laundrypure not only stops this process but in time will even rid these harmful chemical residues from your clothes and linens.

Laundrypure easily installs by mounting on a wall with 2 screws above or near your washer. The cold water line presently attached to your washer gets connected to this machine instead. A new supplied hose now connects Laundrypure to the cold water inlet on your washing machine. Plug the power cord into the wall and you’re done. You should also just turn off your hot water valve as you won’t be needing it anymore.

Laundrypure is not available in stores and sold only by a direct sales organization that is huge in the industry. With a history spanning over 80 years and providing 50 million happy customers products like the well-known Electrolux vacuum cleaner, this manufacturer enjoys a very enviable reputation for both quality and customer satisfaction. I’m sure that knock off’s will eventually be out there but why wait for an imitation of unknown quality when you can have the real deal today.

When your dryer stops drying your clothes efficiently, there are a number of possible culprits. Learn what might be the cause and how an appliances repair expert can help get your dryer back in business.

The clothes dryer is an indispensable tool in modern life. Gone are the days of hanging wet laundry up, waiting for it to dry, and then having to iron everything that you want to look smooth and presentable. Instead, you can just pop your wet clothes in the dryer and, 45 minutes later, you’re good to go! The only problem with this is, on occasion, that drying may not happen, or it may take significantly longer than it should. This type of malfunction is a problem that crops up with even the best dryers from time to time. Learn what might be causing this lack of drying and how an appliance repair service pro can help you get your dryer back on track.

If your dryer isn’t drying properly, there may be something wrong with the vent. The dryer duct and vent is essential to the drying process, as they carry hot air and moisture to the outside after it’s been cycled through the interior of the dryer. Without the vent (or with an improperly working vent), that moisture hangs around a lot longer, meaning that your clothes may never get all the way dry! If you’re having drying troubles, you need to make sure the duct is connected properly and that there’s nothing blocking it, especially lint. If you know what you’re looking for and how to do it safely (i.e. without damaging the vent), this is a project you can tackle on your own if you are so inclined. However, if you’re not sure how to go about this type of maintenance, it doesn’t hurt to call in a dryer repair pro to check the vent, clean it out, and get everything back in working order.

If your vent and duct are clear but you’re still having dryer issues, the heating element may be to blame. This is a diagnosis that your dryer repair service pro will need to make. If part or all of the heating element is burned out, your dryer won’t heat properly, if at all. An appliance repairs expert will determine if the heating element is to blame for the issues with your dryer by testing the element. If it’s faulty, he or she will be able to replace it and get everything back on track.

If the dryer vent and heating element are both working properly, the problem may well have to do with your dryer’s internal ductwork. Just as any obstructions to the outside vent can cause heating problems, so too can obstructions in the dryer’s internal ducts. These obstructions are usually lint clogs and can cause major restrictions to the airflow in your dryer, making it almost impossible for your clothes to get dry in a timely fashion. If you remove the lint trap and can see a clog right there, you can attempt to get it out by hand or by using a vacuum. If this doesn’t work, though, you need to contact a pro for appliance repair services, as accessing the rest of the ductwork requires substantial disassembly of your dryer unit.

If you’re experiencing issues with the speed or efficiency of your dryer, call an appliance repair professional for expert assistance. He or she will be able to determine what the problem is and take care of it so that you can get back to using a fully functioning dryer.

Are you wondering what is a steam press? You may have heard other names; like, clothing press, steam iron press, or steam press iron when this appliance has been mentioned. There are a variety of presses on the market designed for both commercial and residential use. Home steam presses are appliances used for ironing your clothing and linens. It provides you with another way for ironing your attire, rather than conventional ironing.

The heating plate and ironing board of the clothing press are normally the same length. When ironing you use the handle to lower and lift the heating plate in order to press your wardrobe. The heating plate covers the cloth you place on the ironing board entirely pressing it in seconds. When done properly the lowering and lifting motion used for home steam presses helps in keeping the original shape and fit of the garment. In traditional ironing you are moving the iron over your clothing, which could possibly result in stretching the fabric.

Steam Press, is it Worthwhile?

Did you know that steam pressing is an eco-friendly way to kill pollutants like bacteria, pollen, and pet dander that can attach to your clothing? This is one way to freshen and deodorize your clothes. You can professionally press your own wardrobe and linens with a quality home steam press. You can eliminate having to use a dry cleaner for getting fresh, clean, and crisp creases.

The cost of a steam iron press will more than pay for itself when you consider the time and money you will save. Depending on the press, you can reduce your ironing time up to fifty percent or more. In addition, you can press your wardrobe comfortably by using a press stand. A stand allows you to either sit or stand up while ironing.

Clothing Press and the Advantages

A clothing press can be helpful in many ways in your family life and occupation. For instance, just to name a few situations where you may:
Spend a lot of time ironing for your family.Make clothing for your family or just enjoy sewing.Design and make clothing as a profession.

If you spend the money now for a steam press iron over time you can enjoy:
Professionally pressed wardrobe and linens. No more trips to the dry cleaners for getting your clothing pressed.Cutback on your ironing time up to fifty percent or more.Comfortably press your garments sitting or standing, when using a stand press.Get rid of pollutants that adhere to your clothing and linens.Make more money in your occupation, due to reducing your ironing time and being more productive.

You will have more freedom to do what you want with the time and money you are able to save.

The trend in recent years toward high-efficiency washing machines, while good from an energy standpoint, has introduced many consumers to an issue which was relatively uncommon with older low-efficiency units. Persistent, foul-smelling odors, produced by mold growth inside modern washing machines, have become a big issue for many today. For those facing this problem, the advantages which these machines offer are easily offset by the unpleasant odors left on their clothes, the hassle and inconvenience of trying to keep their washers clean, and the more serious health risks posed by this issue. The numerous lawsuits which have been filed in the years since these washers were first introduced attest to the high level of frustration felt by many such consumers today.

What Causes Washing Machine Odor?
So what causes mold growth and why does it seem to be more prevalent in high-efficiency washers, particularly front-loaders? Mold thrives in moist, dark environments and must have a good food source. These conditions are often met in our washing machines for the following reasons:
Most high-efficiency washers are front-loaders. Front-loaders, by nature, must be sealed watertight and often don’t have good internal ventilation. Residual water is not allowed to evaporate out of the washer between loads and is allowed to stagnate.
High-efficiency washers, because of the low volume of water used, have a harder time maintaining a warmer water temperature. This is compounded if the user tries to conserve energy even further by selecting lower water temperature settings. Cool water is not as effective at allowing detergent to fully activate and to dissolve dirts and oils. These, as well as the detergent itself, are then allowed to deposit inside the washer, which provides a food source for mold to grow on.
Excessive detergent use is another major culprit. Detergent that is not needed to break down dirt and oil will build up inside the washer and provide a perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria. Excessive suds can also deposit these contaminants in areas of the machine which normally don’t get rinsed. High-efficiency washers, because of their low water usage, require significantly less detergent. No more that 1 Tbsp of detergent should be used unless the clothes are heavily soiled. This is especially true if your water is softened or if you are using liquid detergent. This runs counter to what most of us are used to.
Liquid fabric softener is another source of problems. Softener will leave significant residues which can harbor mold.
Foreign objects caught in the drain sump, or even in the pump itself can impede the washer’s ability to drain the water and also provide another good breeding ground for odor causing agents. This is very common in front-loaders.

Recommendations

The following tips should be helpful in preventing this problem from occurring in your high-efficiency washer.
Leave the door/lid ajar between uses. This will help to ventilate and dry out your washer.Use warmer temperature settings whenever possible. For loads that aren’t heavily soiled, use no more than 1 Tbsp of detergent despite the recommended amount listed on the product’s label. Use only HE detergent. You may even need to consider different brands of detergent.Avoid liquid fabric softener. Use dryer sheets instead.Periodically use a product designed to clean washing machines such as Affresh®. Once a month should be adequate.

If your washer already has an odor or has visible mold

If your washer has already developed this problem you have several options. You can try to resolve the issue yourself. Hot water, bleach, and products like Affresh® are sometimes all that is needed. However these measures will not be sufficient in every case. Sometimes a service technician will be necessary. A technician will have access to technician-strength Affresh® which is significantly more powerful than the consumer version. A service technician can clean out the area around the water pump, a common source for these odors. The rubber door gasket may need to be replaced if the mold can’t be removed from there. Depending on the severity of the problem, the basket may even need to be pulled out and the interior surfaces cleaned. In any case, once your washer is clean you should follow the steps outlined above to maintain it and prevent the odor from coming back.

Its important to point out also that not everyone who has a high-efficiency washer has this problem. High efficiency washers are a responsible option for our society today. They conserve water and energy and are easier on our clothes. They have been generally shown to wash more effectively and often have larger capacities. With a little attention and care these benefits can be enjoyed without any accompanying odor.

No longer is the kitchen simply a place to find food for people anymore. Instead it is much more than this and, if there is a big family in question then it tends to double as a common room. Relieve stress while opening up your property to new possibilities by discovering the beauty of a custom-made kitchen.

While there is an argument for buying similar appliances at a much lower cost, you need to remember that the heavy duty parts allow you the peace of mind for long-term usage as well as being more than a place to cook. Even just your standard combination of oven and stove can vary from up to $10,000 to a couple of thousand. Always be looking at things because you can get durable oven shelves and all-purpose stainless steel casing in pricier models. If you are a meat lover and enjoy a bit of power cooking, you can see the flavour get sealed in by using more comprehensive control knobs.

Try to take a look at units that use 15,000 British thermal units because this tends to be a standard heat energy rule of thumb. Gas stove tops on the higher end of the price range usually contain features that make controlling the heat easier, such as gauges that re-light burners within seconds in case you accidentally turn them off. Electric-powered stoves don’t have this problem, but they usually come with features that make for a more even heat distribution for cooking.

You can purchase the oven component along with the stove top (for convenience) or individually if your kitchen has a unique design. If you are a serious baker, then remember that anything in recessed positions in most units manage to prevent uneven cooking.

Food storage is equally as important as cooking and this is one of the reasons why people invest thousands of dollars to have fridges and things that meet needs and wants. Unique shelving and storage options as well as several temperature settings for different areas can be considered top priority for the cook who wants to keep produce crisp while maintaining the fresh factor of gourmet-prepared dishes at the same time.

One of the least expensive categories of kitchen appliances is dish washing, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a unit with all of the top of the line features that you want. A primary issue with dishwashers is noise control, so an extra thick casing is standard for many models. Using hardware that is stainless steel continues to be popular option to stop that problem of rust in cutlery. Finally, water sensors of the high-tech variety ensure that spots on dishes are no longer an issue.

While it can seem like an expense you could do without, buying high end kitchen appliances is the answer for long-term kitchen success. F

Water is vital, more important than food. Apparently you can die of dehydration much faster than you’ll die of starvation. I know from personal experience that dehydration headaches are intensely painful.

Access to cleanwater is even more vital. Bacteria and viruses can live and prosper in water (sounds horrible, doesn’t it?) just waiting to be ingested into your system and proliferate.

So should you get a water filter, and if so, what sort should you get?

I’d say yes. Why? Because the chemicals and additives put into “town” water to make it safe for us to drink, like chlorine etc, aren’t really good for us. Chlorine, for example, is absolutely brilliant at killing bacteria and viruses. If it’s a choice between cholera and chlorinated water, you know which I’ll be choosing… However, chlorine also dries out the skin, causes irritation, rashes etc and isn’t really good for us to be drinking. A filter can remove the chlorine. (Which has already killed the cholera… win-win!)

But if you’re on tank water (like I currently am) do you need a filter? After all, there are significantly less nasties in rainwater, right? Well, sort of. Rainwater is collected from your roof, right? What’s up there? Dust, dirt, bird droppings, other animals tracks and results, leaves… all of which washes down into your gutter and sits there. And some of this stays in the water when it’s deposited in the tank. The big stuff (leaves and sticks) will probably be stopped by your mesh cover, but the little stuff will get through. A good filter will stop 99% of those things…

Let’s not even mention what’s in your pipes, and what they’re made of.

So what sort of filter should you get?

This depends on a lot of things. Budget, obviously. The filters which remove the most pollutants are often the most expensive, but there are options which are very affordable and will work for you. Your lifestyle is another thing to consider – I’m renting my house, which means I don’t want to put an expensive permanent filtration system onto someone else’s house. I also don’t want to plumb anything in. So I use a portable “candle” filter.

It’s got two reservoirs – one on the top, where you pour in the tap water, and one on the bottom, which holds the filtered water. It’s got a little tap to get the filtered water out, and in between there’s a “candle” style filter which filters out all the yucky stuff. You do need to change that every so often, when they get clogged up, but they do make an immediate and tasteable difference to your water!

Mine cost me about $30 from my local hardware store, and the filter candles cost about $17 each to replace, so clean, tasty, filtered water is an affordable option for you!

There are different options for different situations, and I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss these with you. Please comment on Facebook (redfoxbb), or email me with questions!

There are numerous kitchen appliances available in the market these days so confusions usually arise when you want to make a purchase. One thing is for sure, all of these devices are designed to make your cooking experience much easier. The stand mixer is a cooking appliance that generally simplifies the process of mixing ingredients and baking as well. A blender on the other hand is generally meant for blending and mixing. There are other several differences between these two appliances and it is important for you to be familiar with the features and functionalities of each so that you may save both money and time. People who cook regularly without doubt need to invest in blenders and stand mixers so that their needs may be served adequately.

Blender

Basically, a blender is usually comprised of a container that is made from stainless steel, glass or even steel plastic in some cases. The containers normally have the information regarding the measurements of ingredients that can be put inside written clearly on them. You can essentially use a blender for several cooking tasks around your kitchen such as making smoothies, crushing ice, making soup, making milkshakes and fruit purees as well. The usual ingredients that are meant for blenders include vegetables, yogurt, ice, liquids and fruits. Blenders are small in size and can be hand held even though they mostly come with stands so that they can be placed on the kitchen counter when being used. Moreover, they generally have low speeds and cannot be used for mixing ingredients that require higher power such as bread dough for instance.

Stand Mixer

The stand mixer is commonly motorized equipment that simplifies the entire process involved in mixing and baking as well. This is usually a large mixer when compared to the ‘Hand Mixer’ that can be hand held and is also portable. The stand mixer is heavy and weighs about 30lbs which is why it should be placed at a specific spot on the kitchen counter permanently. When you want to mix bread dough that this thick then this mixer comes in handy because it is essentially comprised of three components. They are: A dough-hook, beaters and the flat beaters. The hook is mainly meant for kneading dough while the beaters are meant for mixing eggs, cakes strokes and other similar stuff. In addition to this, you will also get other attachments for making ice cream, stuffing sausage and rolling pasta in these mixers.

The Differences between the Two

Apart from the major differences, there are other several differences between blenders and stand mixers which are:

• Appearance & Structure- In general, blenders are normally hand held and can either be manually operated or electrically operated too. They are usually small and portable. Stand mixers on the other hand cannot be operated manually. The stand mixers normally come equipped with stands which are meant to bear the entire weight of the machine since they are heavy. Moreover, you can leave the machine to operate while you are handling other tasks around the kitchen.
• Power- Blenders operate using smaller motors which means that they can only provide you with low power. This usually makes is impossible to mix tougher ingredients, like bread dough, because the machine lacks the capability to do so. Stand mixer are able to provide you with more power since they use larger motors hence it is possible to whip up any type of food using the machines. This will however largely depend on the strength of the frame that the mixer has and the ingredient’s consistency.
• Cost- The thumb rule which is applied to kitchen appliances reveals that the price range is directly proportional to the size of the machine. This therefore means that you will be able to purchase the blenders at much cheaper prices than the stand mixers. Blenders are normally sold for prices ranging from $15 to $35 while mixers conversely go for prices ranging from $70 to $500. The big motors, extensive structures and other features are what make the stand mixers to be very costly.
• Performance & Efficiency- When it comes to performance and efficiency, stand mixers without doubt deliver much more when compared to blenders. This is owing to the fact that the stand mixers have higher speeds, larger bowl and other excellent features that ensure you get the best cooking experience ever.

In conclusion, stand mixers are much more advanced than blenders. When you want to purchase one of the machines and you are not sure which is best for your case, evaluate your cooking needs carefully so that you may be able to choose the most suitable one. Professional cooks generally prefer the stand mixer since they require performing complex cooking jobs but novices can go for blenders since they usually need to do simple tasks with the machines.

Washing machines need water in order to do their job. If water isn’t forthcoming, contact an appliance repair service to find out what might be causing the issue and what needs to be done to fix it.

The washing machine is arguably the most important household invention of the modern age. However, if it stops working correctly, it can become simply the most argued-with household appliance to darken your doorstep. One of the most common issues that comes up with a washer is the water supply. Normally, when you select your cycle and push, pull, or turn the appropriate knob, the washer starts to fill with water. If that fails to occur, you have a problem on your hands. This malfunction could have to do with your water supply, with your machine’s electrics, or with a mechanical component. In order to fully diagnose and treat the problem, you should contact a washing machine repair expert to come take a look and get everything back on track.

Even though the water supply itself isn’t technically part of the washer, it’s still a potential culprit when it comes to a machine that won’t fill. As an expert who has years of experience with washers of all stripes, your appliance repair services pro will be able to suss out if he or she needs to service or repair washing machine parts on your unit, or if adjustments to the faucets, hoses, or your home water supply will take care of the issue. You can, of course, try looking at those components on your own, but bringing in a pro will ensure that you have covered all your bases and have an accurate diagnosis of the problem.

If you or your appliance pro find that the water supply isn’t to blame, then the filling issue may be part of an electrical problem. We don’t usually see this side of the washing machine, but behind the control panel on the top of the unit lies a complex network of timers, switches, and wiring. If a connection is loose or otherwise faulty, it may well cause a water filling problem. Due to the complex nature of the internal components of the machine, it’s best to have a washer repair pro check this out and do any necessary work to get the water flowing again.

The flip side of the electrical fault possibility is that your washer may be suffering from a mechanical malfunction. The electrical components control the switches and timers that make everything in the washer go, but the individual switch that tells the machine to fill with water–and to stop filling as well–may itself be faulty. Again, contacting an appliance repairs pro is your best option to both diagnose and treat this type of issue, since the complexity and interrelated nature of the electromechanical components of the washer are beyond even most advanced DIY repair practitioners.

If your washer isn’t filling with water, contact an appliance repair expert to help you figure out if the problem is water supply-based, electrical, or mechanical. He or she will be able to quickly and accurately diagnose the issue and complete the necessary work to get your washer filling and back in perfect working order.
